Our international students won third prize at The 2nd International Student Chinese Story Telling Competition "Enjoy Reading China”

On November 23rd, The 2nd International Student Chinese Story Telling Competition Enjoy Reading China was held at the UNESCO Teacher Education Center of Shanghai Normal University, hosted by Shanghai Normal University and the Shanghai Teacher Education College Shanghai Municipal Education Commission Teaching Research Office. Led by the Office of International Student Affairs, with strong support from the School of Economics and Management and the careful guidance of the teaching team from the School of International Education, our Japanese international student, Yū Suzuki, and our Vietnamese international student, Fang Cao, won the national third prize in the individual category with their outstanding performances.

Student Yū Suzuki is a graduate student in the 2024 cohort specializing in International Trade at our university. In the competition, she presented My Chinese Story, sharing her experiences living and studying in Shanghai and showcasing the rapid development and changes in Shanghai and China over the past 20 years.

Student Fang Cao is one of the first international students in the 2022 cohort majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages at our university. In the competition, she presented My Campus Story, telling about her educational life in China and Shanghai, and shared the deep friendships she has formed with teachers and classmates in China.

International Student Chinese Story Telling Competition Enjoy Reading China is a nationwide event for international students, aimed at telling Chinese stories well and showcasing a real, three-dimensional, and comprehensive image of China. This years preliminary competition included 202 international students from 44 universities including individual and group categories. After expert evaluation, 107 international students from 39 countries participated in this offline competition.

This award demonstrates the achievements of our university in educating and training international students, showcasing the positive spirit of our international students. The Office of International Student Affairs will take this opportunity to continue collaborating with various relevant university departments and colleges to do a good job in recruiting and training high-quality international students, further enhancing the Chinese language proficiency and expressive skills of international students, and promoting the international exchange and dissemination of Chinese culture.
