A single argument is more valuable than the treasure of nine tripods; a three-inch tongue is stronger than an army of a million. The truth becomes clearer through debate, and thinking becomes broader through discussion.
On December 21, 2024, the 19th Qiu Shi Cup Freshman Debating Competition of Shanghai Second Polytechnic University successfully concluded. The freshman debating team from our college, composed of Han Yingxiao, Huang Chunqi, Huang Qiuwen, Ni Yinzhong, Sun Zhenxi, Wang Jingbin, Wang Xinyi, and Zhou Xin, after four rounds of intense battles in the preliminary, quarterfinal, semifinal, and final rounds, competed fiercely against eight colleges including Energy and Materials, Intelligent Control, Economics and Management, Foreign Languages, Environmental Resources, Computer Information, Mathematics and Physics, and Arts. They ultimately clinched the runner-up title. Wang Xinyi was awarded the Best Debater in the quarterfinals.
After enduring a journey of hardships, the School of International Education debate team successfully advanced to the finals. In the debate arena, they argued with reason and moved with emotion; off the debate floor, they meticulously searched for quotes and pondered deeply. Throughout the entire competition, they never ceased to think and never shied away from expressing themselves. In the future, the School of International Education debate team will continue to uphold the spirit of dialectics, clarifying truth through debate and seeking reality through argumentation, to achieve further success in the debate arena!
