School of International Education held an expert demonstration and evaluation meeting for the full-time masters degree program in international Chinese language education.

To better adapt to new requirements for high-level talents by the country and economic and social development, and to actively promote the reform and development of graduate education, the School of International Education of Shanghai Second Polytechnic University held an online expert evaluation and review meeting for the full-time masters degree program in international Chinese education on October 14, 2024. The review meeting was attended by experts including Professor Chen Changlai from Shanghai Normal University, Professor Cao Xiuling from Shanghai Normal University, Professor Zhang Yufeng from Fudan University, Professor Zhang Yanli from Shanghai International Studies University, and Professor Yao Shuangyun from Central China Normal University. The director of the School of Graduate of Shanghai Second Polytechnic University, Zhao Jingbo, also attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Sun Yan, the Dean of School of International Education, and all faculty members of the college participated.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dean Sun Yan warmly welcomed the experts on behalf of the university and expressed hope that they would rigorously review the program and offer valuable suggestions to help with the construction and development of the international Chinese education degree program. Deputy Dean Zhang Tiantian detailed the basic situation of the international Chinese education masters degree program, the revision process of the training program, changes, and existing confusions, hoping that the experts could provide answers and offer good strategies to effectively improve the quality of training for masters students in the international Chinese education degree program.

Subsequently, the participating experts conducted a comprehensive and detailed evaluation of the training program for the international Chinese education masters degree program. The experts fully affirmed the formulation of the training program for the international Chinese education masters degree program and provided constructive opinions and suggestions on how to further optimize the training process, improve training quality, highlight training characteristics, enhance the development strength of the degree program, and promote the formation of educational synergy for the degree program. They pointed out that the formulation of the training program has a certain degree of scientificity, feasibility, and operability, and the degree program should further scientifically optimize the training process, integrate research directions, and enrich the curriculum system. At the same time, it should also strengthen the education of disciplines and its own characteristics, focus on curriculum design and teaching mode reform, as well as the cultivation of academic innovation and practical innovation capabilities.

In his concluding remarks, Director Zhao Jingbo thanked the experts for their concern and support for the international Chinese education degree program. He stated that the opinions of the expert group were precise, objective, and professional, providing valuable references for the university to further promote the construction of the degree program. The university attaches great importance to the construction and evaluation of the masters degree program, hoping that this expert review meeting can effectively promote the high-quality development of the international Chinese education masters degree program.

This expert review meeting provided new ideas for the development of the colleges discipline construction. The college will take this review meeting as an opportunity to further optimize the training program for masters students in the international Chinese education program, continuously align with benchmark institutions, learn from them, and promote the construction of the curriculum and talent training work of the degree program with high quality. The goal is to continuously improve the teaching quality and level of the international Chinese education program, lay a solid foundation for training more outstanding international Chinese education talents, and better serve the overall development of the education cause.
